The Vignelli Canon: Firing off Design Elements

My first impression of “The Vignelli Canon” was it must have been the inspiration for Vogue magazines in the 80’s.  I have to admit I only glanced at it while scrolling it not thinking it would be very significant (but still important since it was required reading).  Then I tried to do the design blitz and realized it would probably be a pretty useful reference tool.

The sections that were particularly helpful were Design Is One, Intellectual Elegance and Visual Power.  Reading this gave me a better understanding of how design not only works and is incorporated around us but also how advertising and marketing companies use design elements to sale their products.

In general, this reading helped me locate different and specific elements in products, art advertising and in different structures and architecture.
